STEPS’ international projects are more partnerships with existing organizations.  Because of the complexities of working in developing countries, Ryan and Sara have decided it’s best to partner with charities that have years of experience in their field (such as World Vision and International Justice Mission) when wanting to make an impact in a developing country. They learned in their trip to Zambia instances where other well-intentioned organizations tried to come in and help, but ended up doing more harm than good. The organizations supported by STEPS are operating in a model that is sustainable, culturally-sensitive, and effective.
